Cirio has acted for Rabbalshede Kraft in the development of a 20 MW / 20 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) to its first energy park
Cirio has advised Rabbalshede Kraft AB, one of Sweden’s leading players in renewable energy, in the development of a 20 MW / 20 MWh BESS from Alfen B.V. to be installed at its newly opened wind farm in Femstenaberg and Lursäng, Sweden, marking the start of its very first energy park – Femstenaberg.
The BESS will be used to supply ancillary services to Svenska Kraftnät, the Swedish transmission system operator, and to optimise the park’s own operations. When fully developed, the energy park, together with the neighbouring Lursäng wind farm, is expected to produce up to 200 GWh/year. Rabbalshede Kraft has also entered into a 10-year service agreement with Alfen for monitoring and maintenance to ensure long-term operational reliability and efficiency of the BESS.
Construction of the BESS is planned to begin in Femstenaberg in autumn 2024, with commissioning expected in spring 2025.
Cirio’s team has consisted of Cecilia Rossing, Jörgen Möller, Erik Engström and Carsten Hierl.
