Project E.V.A. Code of Conduct Now Available in English
Cirio’s Project E.V.A. Code of Conduct and the website projekteva.se/en/ are now available in English.
The Code of Conduct provides a practical framework for strengthening gender equality and social sustainability within the legal profession. It is intended to be used actively in all phases of cooperation between clients and law firms, from procurement and the establishment of new relationships to project follow-up and discussions on working conditions.
The Code of Conduct was originally launched in September 2025 and is the result of more than a year of work within Project E.V.A. (Equally Valued Attorneys), an initiative launched by Cirio to promote gender equality in the legal sector. The work was based on an interview study and a series of joint workshops involving both clients and lawyers, led by Jenny Lantz, Associate Professor specialised in research on the cultural industries at Stockholm School of Economics.
The initiative to develop the Code of Conduct followed the publication of the 2022 report ”Hur påverkar klienterna jämställdheten på advokatbyråerna?” (“How do clients influence gender equality in law firms?”), produced by Cirio in collaboration with work psychologist Jens Näsström and Regi. The report examined clients’ unconscious perceptions of female and male lawyers and how the client–lawyer relationship affects the prospects for increased gender equality. The findings indicated that greater collaboration and more dialogue between clients and law firms are needed to achieve a more equal legal profession.
The name E.V.A. stands for Equally Valued Attorneys and pays tribute to Eva Andén — Sweden’s first female attorney.
The Code of Conduct is available for anyone to download for free at projekteva.se/en/.
