Cirio has advised Utfallsfonden on financing Trygg Rätt’s nationwide initiative to help young people leave criminality

Cirio Law Firm has advised Utfallsfonden in connection with a financing of up to SEK 27 million in the non-profit organisation Trygg Rätt.

The financing will enable a broader expansion of Trygg Rätt’s operations in Sweden and provide more young people involved in criminality with a path back to education and employment.

The financing from Utfallsfonden is structured through an alternative model whereby Trygg Rätt receives operational funding and Utfallsfonden is entitled to a share of future revenues. Trygg Rätt recognises the financing as income, and Utfallsfonden is only repaid if and when the operations generate revenue. Trygg Rätt may enter into outcome-based agreements with municipalities, under which the municipality pays for achieved results instead of the activities.

The initiative is an example of Utfallsfonden’s and Cirio’s collaboration on new financing models that can help scale up civil society organisations with effective solutions to complex societal challenges—while also creating a clearer link between financing, actions and outcomes.

“We are very pleased to support Nour and Trygg Rätt in their important work. At the same time, we are proud to introduce a financing model in Sweden that makes it possible to invest in non-profit organisations in a sustainable way. We now hope that many municipalities will want to test Trygg Rätt’s approach and take the step towards paying for measurable results.”
